Park Place Dealerships Texas Rangers Triple Play

The Texas Rangers recently hit a grand slam for charity at the seventh annual Park Place Dealerships - Texas Rangers Triple Play fundraiser, raising more than $365,000 for the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Conceived by Texas Rangers television announcer Josh Lewin, the Triple Play events have raised more than $1-million to date.

The sold-out game show spectacular gave a group of more than 500 fans the opportunity to interact with Texas Rangers players and coaches, broadcasters and executives in a ballroom at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. Featuring a Guys and Dolls theme, Rangers infielders and outfielders squared off in the fan favorite Fielder's Feud, based on the popular Family Feud TV game show. Then, several Rangers players competed against their wives in a Battle of the Sexes.

Hosts for the 2009 Triple Play were the Thomas O. Hicks family; Rangers third baseman Michael Young and his wife Cristina Barbosa-Young; Rangers television announcer Josh Lewin and his wife Dana; and Park Place Dealerships Ken Schnitzer and his wife Lisa. The entire Rangers team, coaches and front office attended, including president Nolan Ryan.

Guests bid for unique auction items in a live and silent auction, including trips to accompany the team to out of town games, exquisite jewelry from Bachendorf's and autographed sports and Hollywood memorabilia.

Since 1991, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation has contributed more than $10 million within the community to make life better for those in need. With the Foundation's help, more than 205 promising young people have been given financial assistance to attend college; 22 homes have been built through Habitat for Humanity; and 10 youth ballparks have been built.
